If you are wondering exactly where to find your coveted, legitimate VCSA 6.7 and ESXi 6.7 ISOs

    1. VMware-VCSA-all-6.7.0-8217866.iso
    2. VMware-VMvisor-Installer-6.7.0-8169922.x86_64.iso

and license keys for your non-production home lab, then you've come to the right place!

I've done the hardest part for you, which is finding which download links that lead you on the correct path for the ISOs, along with the exact keys that you'll need to activate your newly-built home lab. The ESXi code is available in various places on the download site, but the exact license keys you need are found by following along with these steps below, as also demonstrated in my short video below.

    A) Buy VMUG Advantage using code TINKERTRY to get a 10% discount

This means your $200 USD becomes $180 in your shopping cart at:

with detailed instructions for new enrollees and existing VMUG members here, and information on getting help at the VMUG Advantage Help Desk. You can also contact VMUG Advantage for any remaining questions by email to

    B) Once you've enrolled made your purchase, visit

    C) Once you're authenticated, locate the 2 downloads you need

There's a screenshot below to guide you. The first time you add an item to your cart and checkout, you'll need to sign the EULA and opt-in our opt-out of email offers, then you'll arrive at the actual download screen and receive your license keys. Your expiry dates will vary, I cut-and-pasted mine as examples below, taken as I went to paste the licenses in to my vSphere Web Client.

    1. ISO and key for VCSA 6.7 is under VMware vCenter Server v6.x Standard
Product: VMware vCenter Server 6 Standard (Instances) Capacity: 1 Instances Expires: 7/30/2019

    2. ISO and key for ESXi 6.7 is under VMware vCloud Suite Standard
Look for VMware vCloud Suite Standard 7 (English), click Add to Cart then click on Download below
File: VMware-VMvisor-Installer-6.7.0-8169922.x86_64 and you're prompted to and when prompted, save:
VMware vSphere 6 Enterprise Plus (CPUs) Capacity: 6 CPUs Expires: 7/30/2019
You'll be shown 2 keys, you only need the 2nd one, which will be used to keep your ESXi host(s) going. Just be sure to apply it before the initial 60 day trial period (time bomb) expires.

    3. OPTIONAL key for vSAN under VMware Virtual SAN
VMware vSAN Enterprise (CPUs) Capacity: 6 CPUs Expires: 7/30/2019
The third one is optional, for folks interested in experimenting with amazing vSAN, knowing full well they're are supposed to use hardware that is on the VMware Compatibility Guide for vSAN for full benefits and performance.

Note that vSAN is baked right into the hypervisor, so there is no separate download, and you're entitled to activate vSAN on up to 6 single-CPU systems! You'll find many any other great downloads in the store too, but note that NSX is not compatible with 6.7 quite yet, so you'll want to do your homework first. Don't worry, all the links and highlights are right here at TinkerTry, something to read while waiting for those downloads to finish.

How to download VMware vSphere 6.7 [ESXi & VCSA] ISOs & licenses from VMUG Advantage EVALExperience

Here's where paid, licensed users get their downloads and license keys from:

As of May 04 2018, these 2 ISOs you just downloaded are the exact same code that comes the download site above! Even better, it's gotten easier for folks to upgrade lately, even if the EVALExperience falls a few months behind. See how easy these updates have become for yourself, with these links for VCSA and ESXi.

The program administrators update all the bits of all the VMUG Advantage products every 3 months roughly, and that's a lot of bits!

There's dozens of files in that VMUG Advantage EVALExperience Web Store awaiting, and they still seem to come from CacheFly CDN by the way, apparently rate-limited to around 36Mbps in my location, as you'll see in the video below.

See also this spot, there's a good tip from 3 years ago about the actual length of your new license keys. It's actually quite a bit beyond 365 days, and this is apparently still true today! I'm still testing this in my early 6.7 roll-out testing in my home lab, but it appears that I have until 7/30/2019 to renew my VMUG Advantage EVALExperience to keep my home lab humming along without interruption, and without a rebuild. Nice! There are many other benefits to VMUG Advantage (discounts on eduction and much more), details at VMUG Advantage:

20% Discount on VMware Training Classes
20% Discount on VMware Certification Exams
35% Discount on VMware Certification Exam Prep Workshops (VCP-NV)
35% Discount on VMware Lab Connect
    $100 Discount on VMworld Attendance
