Dave McCabe announced podcast RESET at #BestMeetupEver 2016 where SmartHomeHQ took 360° video of TinkerTry'd SuperServer overview
I already told the story of the trials and tribulations and a failed engine starter motor, which cause our plane to make a barking dog sound. The 10 hour delay almost kept me from getting to Indianapolis this year, see also pictures below. In the end, I obviously made it, with my day-of-release iPhone 7 Plus's new camera with 2x zoom in hand, and I'm sure glad I did! It was my 4th time attending, with the friendliest bunch of technical folks you could imagine spending the weekend with. This gathering has been an annual event for 6 years running!
In case you hadn't heard, leader and founder Dave McCabe is taking a different direction with his popular Home Server Show and SurfaceGeeks podcasts, consolidating his tech story telling under the new name RESET.
This new name and image was inspired by that bent paper clip we geeks keep nearby, to press and hold down that reset button in the latest tech item's recessed pin hole. You know, after you're done tinkering with it, where it's so thoroughly messed up you have to RESET to factory defaults for a fresh start.
Presentations last year included Chris Compton of smarthomehq.net doing home automation, and me doing home lab. This year, Chris brought an interesting 4K 360 degree camera on a telescoping tripod stand, and offered to do an informal camera test/interview of me. Of course I obliged, always fun to try something new!

BestMeetupEver Xeon D Demo
There is a lot going on in this deceptively simple picture. From left-to-right, there's the Ubiquiti EdgeMax Lite Router, thin 10GbE-capable Monoprice CAT6a cable, Supermicro SYS-E200-8D and SYS-5028D-TN4T SuperServers featuring the Xeon D System-on-a-Chip, 128GB of RAM, 2x1GbE and 2x10GbE, and Samsung 950 PRO and Micron M.2 7100 NVMe SSDs! See also comparison table featuring Skull Canyon Intel NUC6i7KYK. Off camera but a frequent source of conversation was the home-PDU like Ubiquiti mPower Pro smart power strip that allows power toggling and watt measurement of 8 individual ports, for just $80! It's not a surge protector, so it works well with my CyberPower PFCLCD that does automated graceful shutdown of my tiny but powerful VMware vSphere 6 home datacenter based on the 8 Core Bundle 2 mini tower pictured above, with a 12 Core Bundle 2 TinkerTry/Wiredzone exclusive on the way soon, the very first in the world!
