  • Just a little follow-up about this Redfish API, given it's been a while since this related post:

It does seem we're getting closer to having something to try on our X10 Generation SYS-5028D-TN4T/X10SDV-TLN4F systems:

Interested in learning more about Redfish, over in the FreeNAS Forums? There's the great write-up by Emerson Network Power's cehoffman, in this post, here's an excerpt:

Redfish is intended to bring the baseboard management controller (BMC) interface up to speed with the hardware deployment realizations in the datacenter. This means the ability to model and represent dense compute node distribution (hyperscale) across multiple chassis in a multitenant world through a single interface.

See also this Google-translated article at Corriere (original Italian here):

Among the founding principles of Redfish there is interoperability between server platforms, which means that a data center administrator will be able to speak a single language, regardless of the individual technologies used, and therefore can be more productive.

And finally, an excerpt from redfish.dmtf.org:

    ...
Designed to meet the expectations of end users for simple, modern and secure management of scalable platform hardware, the DMTF's Redfish is an open industry standard specification and schema that specifies a RESTful interface and utilizes JSON and OData to help customers integrate solutions within their existing tool chains.
