Super easy viewing of your ESXi log files from a mobile browser

  • You can review ESXi 5.1 and 5.5 host log files using these methods, Direct Console User Interface (DCUI), ESXi Shell, extracted vm-support log bundles, vSphere Web Client, or using a web browser, such as Safari on iOS 7, as shown in the 2 minute video below.

    Logs for an ESXi 5.1 host are grouped according to the source component:

    You can authenticate with your ESXi host's root credentials to view those log files from any browser-enabled device over encrypted https. In my home lab, I used iOS 7 running on an iPhone 5, with local network access to my home lab's ESXi 5.5 host, seen below.
