Cisco SG112-24 unmanaged 24 port gigabit switch unboxed - efficient, fanless, and surprisingly affordable
How does a 24 port metal-bodied compact switch from Cisco sound? Quiet! Yes, no fans, always a good thing for home labs.

Unmanaged, efficient (as you'll see in the video), and silent. Just does its thing, and I'm cool with that. With a flat network that emphasizes simplicity, I personally have no need to manage my 1GbE switches. I'm using this gigabit switch to wire up all my copper 1GbE ports for those on-loan compact Xeon D systems, and will likely use it for future home "production" projects as well.
